She/They

Dr. Emily Whinkin (she/they) is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in Washington and Oregon specializing in the clinical practice, research and advancement of integrative mental health and psychedelic healing.

She completed a 2-year accredited residency at the Advanced Integrative Medical Science (AIMS) Institute in Seattle, WA and served as chief resident.

Here, she was trained in ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) and her practice focused on the psychospiritual care for patients with complex, chronic, or life-limiting illnesses and 'treatment-resistant' mental health concerns.

She is a member of the inaugural cohort of Fellows of the American Board of Naturopathic Psychiatry (FABNPsych).

Dr. Whinkin also holds a Masters of Science in Integrative Mental Health from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR, where she studied somatic and interpersonal counseling methods. She maintains a certification in Perinatal Mental Health from Postpartum Support International (PMH-C) to stay at the cutting edge of integrative mental healthcare for conception, pregnancy loss, (in)fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs).

Dr. Whinkin is certified in Holistic Pelvic Care (™),  and has additional training in botanical medicine, somatic and interpersonal counseling, hormone therapy, psilocybin assisted psychotherapy and the use of targeted nutrient therapies for mental health across the lifespan.

Dr. Whinkin’s journey to Naturopathic Medicine included working in reproductive justice, as a full-spectrum doula, a certified nursing assistant (CNA) for in-home hospice care, as a medical scribe, and as a permaculture intern. The values of humanism, whole-person and individualized care, and social justice continue to guide their practice.

Clinically, they work to provide person-centered, relationally-informed care at the confluence of entheogenic spiritual medicine, mental health and reproductive/generative health.

Dr. Whinkin engages specifically with the thresholds of transformation in identity and hormones: adolescence, gender affirming care, perinatal care, genopause* and end of life care. Community connection and collective transformation are central to Dr. Whinkin's vision of being well in the world.
